Muay Thai, also known as Thai Boxing, originated over 1000 years ago in the area which is now modern day Thailand; Muay Thai remains the national sport there. The techniques of Muay Thai were initially developed as a military defense to the invading Burmese army and has evolved from these military origins into vastly popular international sport that it is today.
Muay Thai is also known as "The Science of the 8 limbs," due to use of boxing, kicking, elbowing and kneeing to all parts of the body. Thai Boxing is incredibly effective and practical as a street self-defense art and for applications in modern day MMA.
Training is physically intense and based on the ability levels of each student. Training is traditional yet laid back in terms of the instruction style. Muay Thai provides a dynamic workout from start to finish. Students can lose weight and tone muscle faster than thought possible through workouts which include hitting pads, bags and also the excitement of live body sparring.
